Rebecca is an experienced social impact strategist, organizational designer and operational excellence content expert with an interdisciplinary and cross-sector background in the philanthropic, social impact and for-profit sectors. She most recently served as founder and chief innovation officer of The Greenhouse, a platform for teen-led social innovation offering NYC Jewish and peer high school students skills- and network-building opportunities with industry experts, business leaders and entrepreneurs passionate about social impact careers. Prior to this start-up experience, Rebecca served as an independent consultant to diverse grant making and social impact organizations, including one investing in portfolios of social businesses & entrepreneurs addressing the unemployment of marginalized populations, and two committed to greater investment in the US nonprofit and philanthropic workforce. She is deeply passionate about building, engaging and activating high impact potential communities, and doing so in partnership with philanthropists, corporate leaders, civic leaders and community clients. Rebecca was trained in business innovation and operational excellence methodologies, including design-thinking and lean/six sigma while at Valeocon Management Consulting, a boutique firm working with Fortune 500 Life Sciences and Financial Services companies, and dipped her toe into the world of investment banking as a member of Morgan Stanley's Prime Brokerage Client Services team before returning to a more entrepreneurial, creative and mission-driven path. While completing her Bachelor of Science and Master of Public Administration at New York University, Rebecca served as Deputy Director of Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy, a national association delivering professional & leadership development services to 5,000+ grant makers stewarding philanthropic resources to communities all over the world. Rebecca recently relocated to Los Angeles with her husband, Dean, and has re-established her consulting practice serving a range of social impact organizations in the areas of organizational design, innovation strategy and execution, and operational excellence.
Danielle is an Organizational Consultant helping small to medium-sized organizations build more cohesive, dynamic and collaborative work cultures. Having a previous career in biotechnology management, she designed and implemented quality assurance measures to improve efficiency for a fast-growing biotech company, while cultivating a positive workplace environment alongside her team.
She continued to refine her skills in leadership and team development while serving as president for an on-campus student group at the University of Southern California (USC), where she recruited executive board leadership and promoted events and activities to increase student membership. Additionally, she has served as a consultant for various nonprofits, including the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation and University of Southern California, in order to improve operations, fundraising and marketing.
Through a holistic lens and a growth mindset, she aims to blend social work values with her previous experience in leadership and management, to help her clients build innovative and sustainable workplaces for the future.
She received a Master of Social Work degree from USC, within the department of Social Change and Innovation, and enjoys watching baseball, reading and being in nature.
Nicholas Giordano, a native of Philadelphia, moved out to California almost 20 years ago after graduating from Bucknell University with a degree in Finance and Accounting. After obtaining his CPA, he focused on his passion of helping emerging companies grow. He has worked in a variety of industries; from Entertainment and Publishing, to Beverage and Beauty in the Consumer Product Goods vertical. Most recently he came in pre-revenue to Tyra Bank's new brand in Direct Selling called TYRA Beauty. He has recently joined the team at JOANY as VP of Finance where they are growing fast and filling a void in the Tech/Healthcare industry. When Nick is not working you can find him traveling around the world, having visited six of the seven continents. Antarctica is next on his list!
Dominica is the first in her family to attend a university and received a BS in Biochemistry in
2014 from California State University, San Marcos. There Dominica served as the Advisory Board Chair during the construction and grand opening of the University Student Union. In addition to this role, she also had significant involvement in campus life, student retention, and inclusive excellence endeavors leading to various accolades including one of the highest recognitions as a recipient of the CSU Trustee Award. Dominica also holds a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from Alliant International University and a Master in Public Health (MPH) from Benedictine University. Dominica currently serves as Academic Program Coordinator at Alliant International University. Her passion for serving others has allowed her to take on various leadership positions that contribute to the mission and strategy of the institution. Her experience and interests also include diversity and inclusion, training and development, operations, process improvement and strategy. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Organizational Development (PsyD) with a concentration in Organizational Change and Sustainability. In her free time, she enjoys spending time hanging with friends and family, enjoying the cinematic arts, or most likely binging Grey’s Anatomy.
A graduate of UC Berkeley with a double major in molecular/cellular biology and economics, Andy brings an analytical eye to True Connection’s Board of Advisors with a proven track record in strategic planning and financial analysis. Andy spent more than three years at the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, where he helped manage the non-profit’s $6 billion investment portfolio, which was used to fund a handful of charitable program areas. He currently works at MedMen, a cannabis firm, where he evaluates M&A opportunities and helps guide corporate strategy. When he’s not crunching numbers and grinding away at a spreadsheet, Andy enjoys the vibrant performance art scene in LA – he can often be spotted attending improv shows at the Largo or musicals at the Pantages. He is thrilled to be helping True Connection bring its HiEQ curriculum to potentially thousands of educators across the nation.
Elyas graduated from UC Berkeley and received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the Haas School of Business. After graduating, Elyas worked in Bank of America Merrill Lynch's investment banking group in San Francisco. Most recently, Elyas was an investment associate at Brentwood Associates, a private equity firm based in Los Angeles. Elyas has a diverse corporate finance background and has experience working across a variety of industries, including consumer, business services, healthcare, retail, and technology. Elyas is passionate about education and is excited to both help grow the True Connection brand and introduce its philosophy to educational institutions and teachers. During his free time, Elyas enjoys muay thai, playing billiards, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
